This act of misdirection is probably the one I like best about this whole comic – presenting the first Crystal as if it’s about “werewolf-ness”, when in fact it sort of reveals the most fundamental secret of the entire campaign world.
The turtle lady gets a d8 because Beasts are just better. They just are, it’s a fact of the world. To reflect that mechanically – because mechanics are how we make things feel real – they all have a Wild Die, and it’s a d8.
